What is Bilateral Deep Cervical LVA
Deep Cervical Lymphaticovenous Anastomosis (LVA) is an avant-garde surgical methodology conceived by Professor Qingping Xie of Hangzhou Qiushi Hospital. Its pioneering objective is the establishment of a tangible conduit that expedites the removal of toxic proteins, effectively expelling protein accumulations from the brain. The breakthrough point for his method is the fact that the surgical site is on the side of neck area which is extracranial (outside skull), which provide a significant control over the safety of the procedure and is considered much less invasive method.
According to the anatomy of the lymphatic’s distribution, the first exit of brain lymphatic vessel happens at III-V subdivision on the neck.

This innovative approach substantially augments the lymphatic system's functionality, thereby enhancing the transport of critical substances. Since its inception in late 2019, this procedure has demonstrated remarkable efficacy, having been successfully executed on more than 500+ Alzheimer's patients (~300 patients) and other brain degenerative diseases (pakinson’s/ ALS/Stroke) in China until late 2024.

Lymphedema is a chronic condition characterized by the accumulation of lymph fluid, typically causing swelling and discomfort, often observed in the arms or legs due to compromised lymphatic drainage, indicating that Emerging progress in treating arm/leg lymphedema through supermicrosurgery has shown exceptional results.
Simultaneously, pioneering research has revealed brain lymphatic system dysfunction, identifying Alzheimer’s disease (AD) as a type of “brain lymphedema.” This discovery offers an encouraging avenue to explore applying lymphatic supermicrosurgery for treating AD.

The impairment of this circulation system might lead to the accumulation of substances like tau proteins within brain tissue regions. The neurotoxicity of these proteins can cause synaptic damage and neuronal cell death, contributing to the onset of Alzheimer's disease.
